ABOUT THE ARTIST
Simone Russell is a contemporary London-based painter whose work blends Romantic landscape influences with modern techniques. Trained in Printed Textiles at Glasgow School of Art, she explores colour, texture, and atmospheric light, drawing inspiration from artists such as Turner, Constable, and abstract expressionists including Hodgkin and Richter.
Her small-scale paintings capture fleeting moments and fragments of landscapes, building delicate layers of oil paint to create translucency and depth. Each work evokes a dialogue between past and present, combining traditional Romantic elements with contemporary mark-making to offer a fresh, contemplative perspective on the natural world.
